Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition Hannover: The twelve Semifinalists have been chosen
The Semifinal rounds will take place at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media (HMTMH) from Saturday, October 6, through Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Appearing with the Munich Chamber Orchestra (concertmaster Daniel Giglberger), the twelve candidates have to demonstrate that they are able to lead and direct an ensemble at the same time as playing the solo instrument. The works performed will be violin concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. A further challenge is that of interpreting the compulsory piece ›unentrinnbar‹ (›no way out‹), which was commissioned from the Munich composer Peter Francesco Marino specially for the Competition. Which competitors will go on to the Finals will be announced by the Jury shortly after they have assessed the last Semifinalist on Tuesday, October 9, 2012.
