PULS Power Supplies Gain IECEx Approval for use in Explosive Environments
Power supply manufacturer PULS UK has enhanced the specification of a number of its units enabling them to obtain international IECEx approval. IECEx approval allows the power supplies to be used in Class 1 Div 2 atmospheres in many territories across the globe. These units already comply with the European ATEX standard and the Class 1 Div 2 HazLoc scheme covering the USA.The IECEx Scheme was created to facilitate international trade in electrical equipment intended for use in hazardous atmospheres by eliminating the need for multiple national certification. The 26 countries covered by the Scheme include the USA, Australia, Canada, China, Brazil, India, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and, South Africa.
Many industrial applications benefit from the use of ATEX approved products, not only for their atmospheric capabilities, but also the double conformal coating required for AC products ensures very high resistance to shock and vibration.
PULS UK is a specialist manufacturer of DIN Rail power supplies and has developed some of the most advanced technologies for use within power supplies allowing them to achieve the highest efficiencies. PULS UK is a subsidiary of PULS GmbH, based in Munich, Germany. With three factories it is the second largest producer of DIN Rail power supplies in the world.

Overpressure system with gas detection for hazardous areas (ATEX/IECEx)
We made a little video to show the ease of use of overpressure system in hazardous areas for un-approved devices. It is the easiest way to bring YOUR device into hazardous area too.
The explosion protection at the "overpressure system 2.0" is realized by operating a non-explosion-protected equipment in a protected enclosure. This housing is protected by a durable pressure with air or an inert gas prior to penetrate the enclosure…
Can EN 14986:2017 Form the Basis of International Certification?
A new edition of standard EN 14986 “Design of fans working in potentially explosive atmospheres” was issued in January 2017. While the new standard does not make substantial changes to the 2007 version, many fan manufacturers will need to consider the amendments before the previous version loses harmonisation status. While the new edition has not yet been published in the Official Journal, it is speculated that this will happen in…
