DigiPara adds BIM functionality to DigiPara Liftdesigner software
New BIM export format greatly simplifies the elevator design processFrechen, Germany - DigiPara announced an enhanced version of its DigiPara Liftdesigner software, featuring BIM Exchange for Autodesk Revit software. DigiPara Liftdesigner software can now save 3D elevator models into the LD BIM file format. It then loads the complete 3D elevator Building Information Modeling (BIM) model into the 3D architecture software Autodesk Revit. This greatly enhances and simplifies the existing building design process for elevator companies and architects as they can now work more efficiently together.
The new module BIM Exchange for Autodesk Revit enables elevator manufacturers to export and send complete 3D elevator BIM models, which show all elevator components, to architects and builders, who are working with Autodesk Revit software. Due to the new export format, architects can display elevators more precisely as well as perform interference checks between the elevator and the building. As BIM Exchange for Autodesk Revit creates a full-fledged elevator BIM model as a set of family instances, architects can make necessary adjustments and view space requirements, structural supports and connection points.
In addition, it omits the elevator company’s requirement to create, maintain and deliver any type of elevator Revit families, since the elevator company can deliver perfect customized elevator models from DigiPara Liftdesigner.
BIM is a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of a building. It improves the collaboration between architect, builders, elevator companies and other stakeholders, who typically focus on different phases of a building's life cycle. Each stakeholder can insert, extract, update or modify information to support the various aspects of the design process.
“We see BIM solutions as the core enabler for better collaboration between architects, builders, manufacturers and others involved in the building design and delivery process”, said Brian M. Frank, industry executive at Autodesk, Inc., in Waltham, Massachusetts, USA. “With BIM Exchange for Autodesk Revit software, DigiPara supports the Autodesk initiatives of providing building product manufacturer specific information to the BIM process, improving project delivery, and we are happy to work with them to help extend the value of BIM to their clients around the globe.”
