Absinthe business is growing – the Green Fairy is on a comeback

Sölden, 9th August 2012: Absinthes.com, a website where you can buy absinthe online and have it delivered to your doorstep, has been working very hard in recent years, to diffuse the common prejudices about absinthe and its effects.

Absinthe has had its ups and downs since it was first produced in 1792. The “Green Fairy” - this is how absinthe is called by connoisseurs, due to its natural, green colour – made its way to the national drink of France around 1900, up until it was banned in 1915, and claimed to be the cause of alcoholism, violence, and the collapse of society.

Now it seems, that since the ban was lifted in Europe in 2005, this delicious anise liquor is having a comeback. True absinthe lovers never forgot about the Green Fairy, but the rest of the world certainly did. Absinthe is characterised by strong flavours originating from herbs used during its distillation process: Wormwood, anise, and often fennel. The second strong characteristic of this drink is its high alcohol content. It is one of the strongest spirits on this planet, and therefore to be drunk with care.
