Need help with your Afro and curly hair but don’t know where to start? Enter M’xche: your new hair BFF.

M'xche (that rhymes with quiche), is an app designed by the Afrocenchix Team to help our growing community solve their hair care woes. Whether you need help with styling, breakage, hair loss or an itchy scalp, our scientifically-accurate hair advisor Bot is available 24/7.

“At Afrocenchix, we believe that everyone should be able to look after their hair without compromising their health or wellbeing. M’xche has been a dream of ours since Joycelyn and I started Afrocenchix. We want to be the trusted one stop shop for all things Afro hair that we wish we’d had.” said Rachael Corson, Afrocenchix Co-founder, who began working on M’xche after taking a programming course during the March 2020 lockdown, and continued to develop the barebones whilst on the Google for Startups Black Founders Immersion programme.

Afro hair is big business, but 78% of products for Afro hair contain toxic ingredients linked to cancer fibroids and respiratory issues. Products targeted at Black women have also been shown to routinely use highly hazardous ingredients and a five year study showed connections between afro hair products and serious health concerns such as dermatitis, eye irritations and reproductive problems.

This has left those with Afro and curly hair with an impossible task of navigating the crowded environment to find safe, effective products for their hair. And even worse, without a trustworthy place to get advice or answer basic questions such as ‘how often should you wash afro hair’. To help solve this problem, the Afrocenchix Team launched M’xche, hot off the success of the Afrocenchix Hair Quiz and Sub Club.

“We talk to our customers every day and exchange hundreds of thousands of DMs/tweets/emails/calls/texts every month, something we love but something unsustainable for our tiny team, especially as our customer base is 10x the size it was before the pandemic. Deploying M’xche allows customers to speak to a friendly, supportive, approachable, helpful, reliable & health-conscious expert at the click of a button.” says Rachael Corson, Afrocenchix Co-founder.

M’xche is in beta and will be available to Sub Club members first, then Afrocenchix customers and community on the waitlist. In the meantime you can speak to M’xche to solve some of your hair care woes.

After raising over half a million in investment to increase accessibility to their safe, effective products in a pre-seed round including prizes from the WeWork’s Creator Awards awarded by celebrity judges Ashton Kutcher, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Kirsten Green and Gary Vaynerchuk, Afrocenchix have launched the first few phases of their tech offerings and they continue to develop new safe, effective haircare formulations as they grow.
