The team at Dayinsure has revealed the most popular cars in the UK.

By comparing many years of government data and Google search volume data, Dayinsure has presented an easy to digest look into the car makes and car models that are the most prevalent on UK roads, as well as the most searched for online.
Discover some of the main findings below:

The Ford Fiesta is currently the most popular car model in the UK. The latest licencing data has the Fiesta ahead of other popular models such as the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Corsa.

Ford is the most popular car make in the UK. The latest government figures position Ford head and shoulders above the competition, with the Vauxhall, Volkswagen, and BMW filling out the top four.

The Mercedes A-Class and Ford Fiesta are the most searched for cars online. In terms of the most licenced cars on UK roads, the A-Class and Fiesta are the two most currently desired models online.

Dayinsure’s team had this to say: “We are sure that it isn’t a shock to many that Ford is so dominant across the board. However, this may not be the case for much longer. By looking at the changes in popularity throughout the years it’s evident that whilst Ford has held a strong lead, competitors are closing the gap. Especially when we look at the UK’s desires through what they are searching for online, the data for Ford looks pretty damning with only one model, the EcoSport, getting more queries in 2021 than it did in 2017, all others have either plateaued or worse, decreased. Could this be the start of the end of the Ford supremacy?

“The increasing popularity of the EcoSport is fitting and shows a clear indication of the way the market is going. As part of this study, we reached out to UK drivers to find out what they’d be looking for in their next car and, although many focus on functionality more than all else (especially those with a family) there is a clear trend for people looking towards something greener. It seems that it’ll be manufacturers who are able to dominate this space in coming years, whilst also offering functionality, that could be most likely to take Ford’s crown.”
