Press release from: Recenso GmbH

ISCC-PLUS certificate issued for CARBOLIQ process for liquefaction of waste that cannot recycled mechanically

Heading for a Circular Economy those systems which ensure the sustainability of materials for the next steps in the value chain become more important. RECENSO follows this development and received now the ISCC-PLUS mass balance certificate for its Ennigerloh based plant applying CARBOLIQ technology. Thus the product CARBOLIQ-CLR (Circular Liquid Resource) derived from mixed and contaminated plastic waste is now certified to be a sustainable resource that will be used for new polymer production of virgin quality. This is another proof of RECENSO’s leadership in Chemical Recycling.

Circular Economy aims on not to waist resources of any kind. Products and materials are to be reused, reprocessed or recycled. The system is based on waste prevention and conserves natural resources. Industry which works according to these principles secures the future.

ISCC („International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is a system for sustainability certification, which is internationally accepted. The criteria on which this system is based have been accepted as standards for sustainability all over the world. With ISCC-PLUS, this basis has been also specified for technical-chemical implementation.

The ISCC-PLUS certification of the Ennigerloh plant guarantees CARBOLIQ customers, that the new resource has been derived from waste only and so prevented the use of natural resources. From April 2021 on, all deliveries of CARBOLIQ-CLR obtain the corresponding certificate.

By applying CARBOLIQ technology on mixed and contaminated plastic waste RECENSO demonstrates the potential of its solution which is unique in regard of the broad spectrum of input materials as well as in regard of the moderate process conditions. The ISCC-PLUS certification confirms the leadership role of the RECENSO engineers in the development of technologies for a real recycling economy. CARBOLIQ really makes waste becoming a resource.

RECENSO launches joint project for Chemical Recycling
Chemical Recycling is more and more identified as a key to a circular plastics economy. Polymer waste for which mechanical recycling is inappropriate can be converted into a liquid resource for the production of new high-quality polymers. RECENSO was the first to deliver such resource to BASF within the ChemCycling project. Besides increasing its capacities to serve petrochemical industries with its product, RECENSO has launched “CLR2020” – a project to
