Intel and Research Studio Austria open the 3rd microlearning Conference
Innsbruck, June 21, 2007 - Today, Intel Corp., represented by Dr. Martina Roth, Director Education EMEA and Prof. Dr. Bruck, founder and General Manager of the Research Studios Austria, jointly opened the 3rd microlearning Conference in Innsbruck in front of nearly 200 high-level professors and researchers from around the world. As Martina Roth is newly elected member of the Scientific Board of the Research Studio Austria and this year’s Conference Co-Chair, she had the honor to open the conference with a keynote address.Stressing the importance of Technology in Education across the globe, she pointed out: “If you look at the challenges societies face today, the effective use of technology is clearly one of the most obvious answers to address those challenges. This starts in Primary and Secondary Education, continues with Higher Education and is actually a Lifelong Learning experience. It requires a close collaboration between Governments, NGO’s, Academia, Educators and Industry.” Martina Roth also stressed in her keynote opening the changing roles of teachers, educators and learners throughout the education system and the importance of blended learning, online learning and microlearning environments. This clearly requires accessibility and connectivity, anytime, anywhere, just in time.
The microlearning Conference 2007 is discussing the impact of microcontent-based technologies and practices on the way we will be living, working and learning in the years to come. Microlearning is what learners do when immersed in the highly fragmented digital environments of today, characterized by e-mail and mobile texting, googling and podcasting, micro-publishing via blogs, wikis, aggregation & feeds, and – increasingly – the Mobile Web.
Intel, the world leader in silicon innovation, develops technologies, products and initiatives to continually advance how people work and live. Additional information about Intel is available at www.intel.com/pressroom.
