Toledo Family Condemns Alleged Calls for Violence
Chicago, Ill. April 4, 2021--The family of 13-year-old Adam Toledo, who was shot to death by a Chicago Police Officer on March 29, 2021, condemns alleged calls for violence and urges people to remain respectful, peaceful, and law abiding in expressing their grief over Adam's death.
On Friday, the Chicago Police Department issued an "officer safety alert," alleging that the Narcotics Division had received information that gang factions have been instructed to shoot at unmarked police cars in retaliation for Adam's death.
"This report, if true, is extremely disturbing," said Adeena Weiss Ortiz, who represents the Toledo family. "Let me be perfectly clear, the Toledo family condemns violence against police and all other members of the community."
Adam's mother, Elizabeth Toledo, is asking that the community respect her son by remaining peaceful.
"No one has anything to gain by inciting violence," Mrs. Toledo said. "Adam was a sweet and loving boy. He would not want anyone else to be injured or die in his name."
Additionally, Joel Hirschhorn of the nationwide firm of Gray Robinson PA, has joined Adeena Weiss Ortiz of Weiss Ortiz PC, in handling the case.

La familia de Adam Toledo, de 13 años de edad, que murio de un tiro por un official de policía de Chicago el 29 de Marzo del 2021, condena los supuestos llamados a la violencia contra la policia de Chicago. La familia urge al publico mantener respeto, paz y obedecer la ley mientras expresen su dolor por la muerte de Adam.
El viernes, el Departamento de Policía de Chicago emitió una "alerta de seguridad de los oficiales", alegando que la División de Narcóticos recibio información de que las facciones de las pandillas han recibido instrucciones de disparar contra autos sin marca de policía en retaliacion por la muerte de Adam.
“Este informe, si es cierto, es sumamente inquietante", dijo la abogada, Adeena Weiss Ortiz, que representa a la familia Toledo. "Permítanme ser perfectamente claro, la familia Toledo condena la violencia contra la policía y a todos los demás miembros de la comunidad".
La madre de Adam, Elizabeth Toledo, pide que la comunidad respete a su hijo permaneciendo en paz.
