IAVWTR is Planning Partnership with a Big Four Accounting Firm
The Big Four is the nickname used to refer to the four largest professional services networks globally, consisting of the global accounting networks Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. The International Association for Verification of World Trade Records (IAVWTR) is a private, for-profit global organization that verifies traders' prior trade and financial records for transparency in new international trade relationships.
The IAVWTR works primarily with an exporter to examine its past bill of lading data and financial records and, while withholding all sensitive data, releases only the following information on a certificate issued to an exporter: which goods exporter has exported in the past 12 months and their HS codes, invoice totals corresponding to the bills of lading notated as exporter turnover, exporter's legal status in the country of origin, and optionally last four digits of the leading bank account used for export proceeds.
This certification helps an exporter establish credibility in terms of previous experience and financial capacity when dealing with importers it is transacting with for the first time.
"We are now at a growth stage, and as a private worldwide agency verifying and certifying exporters' trade and financial records, we are not yet fully equipped to deal with the volume of requests we are receiving lately. We have national partners in countries around the world, but we strongly believe that to deal with the next phase of verifications, we will need to partner with one of the Big Four: Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, or PwC," said Enver Ali, Turkey-based Assistant Global Head of Partnerships at the IAVWTR.
"It is more of an in-depth review process than something that would require a special accounting skillset. However, timely processing of an exporter's request is critical, and you need a large set up to deal with that kind of volume," Ali further added.
