IPA lends its voice in support of International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

On 21 March 2021, the International Psychogeriatric Association (IPA) supports International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

As mental health professionals, IPA members are called to identify and work to eliminate existing health care disparities and develop strategies to improve the health status of older adults in diverse populations.

In addition, as researchers, IPA members can work to increase inclusion of underrepresented populations in aging research. Finally, we can help build a diverse health care workforce - one that is truly representative of the patients we serve.

Ageism, racial and ethnic disparities in health care are not new issues, but IPA and our global members have the opportunity to continue to highlight disparities in care and work to create long-term solutions. We invite you to join us this Sunday, 21 March in support of International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
