Up And Coming Actress Rises Above Tragedy

Jessica Alexis, 25, is an actress and author born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. Her children's book, Dan's Toy Planes came out Monday, March 1st. This story of family and community is rated K-2. Jessica's book is available across all E- platforms such as Barnes & Noble, and Apple Books as well as all school libraries.

Six months prior to the creation of this book, Jessica's pregnant 20-year-old sister, Brooklyn Hunter, was in a horrific car crash killing her child and leaving her brain dead. The family later had to decide to pull the plug. This event occurred on the night of Father’s Day. Hunter was a Lafayette resident and a Roper employee. This tragedy was in the wake of the triple heart attack and coma of Jessica's father, Ronnie. The year prior brought the death of her mother due to cancer. This story displays three years of unimaginable loss that we think many readers and viewers can relate with, especially now.

Overall, the community has been comforting and supportive. We would like to show that, through times of incredible darkness, one’s community and neighbors can and will be there to help.

Through the support of the local area, Jessica was able to be admitted to Southern New Hampshire University for her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, write two books, and find the Sewanee Actors Association. Our mission is to inspire hope and join together to rebuild a better future.

Jessica Alexis has acted proffesionally in local theatre and film. She is currently working to produce a web-series, with the first episode being released last week. The young actress and author has a second book releasing this year under the working title, What Binds Us. This is an Adult/Young Adult themed book slated to be released later in 2021, featuring themes we all experienced during this pandemic.

Also in the near future, Jessica will be releasing an EP titled Novice Nomads, an electronic dance themed album. Novice Nomads will be available worldwide on all streaming platforms Summer 2021.
