Nolde's "Nadja" Now Living in Mönchengladbach, Germany
Munich, 13 June 2007, (kk) - The dark beauty with the green eyes has a new home. Yesterday Nolde’s portrait of “Nadja” in oils was sold at auction in Munich by Ketterer Kunst for € 2 580 000*. As from now she will be residing with an art collector in Mchengladbach. It was love at first sight for the collector in question, a tobacconist whose interest in art has to date centred primarily on the work of Horst Janssen. That he decided to acquire this enchanting portrait was due, apart from its irresistible charm and outstanding quality, to the fact that he wants to make this important work accessible to the public.
“In the next few months, I would like to enjoy this peerless work privately but am already looking forward to requests from important museums desirous of offering “Nadja” a second domicile for brief stays,” says the avid art lover.
Robert Ketterer, auctioneer and owner of Ketterer Kunst, is also enthusiastic: “Splendid that “Nadja” has found such a good home and no longer has to spend her days in attics and storerooms. I am really delighted that in future even more people will have a chance of falling under the spell of her beauty.”
Since it was founded in 1954, Ketterer Kunst has been firmly established in the front ranks of auction houses dealing in art and rare books. While the Munich headquarters in the Prinz-Alfons Palais is responsible for the two traditional annual auctions of Modern Art & Post War, the Me゚berghof in Hamburg is the venue for two traditional auctions a year, each based on the following fields: Old Masters and 19th-Century Art /Marine Art and Rare Books - Autographs - Manuscripts - Decorative Prints as well as Modern Art & Post War, with a focus on works on paper. In addition, exhibitions, special and benefit auctions for charity as well as live auctions online are regular events at Ketterer Kunst.
