Westhausen – The Apex Tool Group GmbH & Co. OHG gained a major order in the eight-figure range for tightening technology in three plants of the BMW Group. Regensburg, Leipzig and Oxford rely on the well-known products of the industrial tool manufacturer and apply them to the vehicles of the compact car class.

Tightening technology of the Cleco LiveWire series, hand tools, DGD spindles and other products of the comprehensive Apex Tool Group portfolio come into operation in the three locations where the systems for the BMW 1 Series and the MINI are being installed lately. Tools of the Apex Tool Group are especially utilized for safety critical joints.

Three factors were important for the contracting of this voluminous project. Initially, the reliable tightening technology of the Apex Tool Group had already be known due to the long-term business relationship between the two companies. Additionally, the car manufacturer attached great importance to a supplier who is able to cover all tool sectors competently. And finally, the leading quality of the DGD spindles was convincing once more.

Andreas Kowol, General Manager of the Apex Tool Group in Westhausen, and all employees were glad about the contracting. “We are very happy that BMW chose us as their main supplier. The Apex Tool Group was founded as Deutsche Gardner Denver in 1959 and today employs about 220 employees in Westhausen. The company combines worldwide leading products under ten brands of the tools industry in its product portfolio: Airetool, Apex, Cleco, DGD, Dotco, Geta, Master-Power, Quackenbush, Utica and Recoules.

Since July 2010, Westhausen is the European headquarter of the Apex Tool Group LLC., Power Tools sector, based in Lexington, SC/USA. The group is one of the biggest manufacturers of industrial pneumatic and electric tools as well as adequate accessories with several thousand employees worldwide.

The Competence Center in Westhausen supplies the development and production of products of the so-called Cleco LiveWire- and DGD series for the area of Europe, Middle East and Africa. The core competences are development of engines and servo, engines and gears as well as tightening algorithms. The bundled know-how in Westhausen is completed by the Software Development Center for DGD- and Cleco tightening technology as well as standard- and customer specific software solutions.

The Apex Tool Group, founded as a joint venture of the tools divisions of Danaher Corporation and Cooper Industries, delivers to industrial customers in numerous sectors such as automotive industry, aerospace industry, general industry and end users.
