In China are many postal distribution centers. Most of them have a lot of small packages to handle and to sort, because the internet business is exploding in China. Here the Chinese partner of Avancon developed a brilliant idea to solve this problem by installing a fast and easy sorter, which is equipped with the Avancon OTU-tables and sorts very fast all kind of small items and packs.

Yes, it is very often the case that small things are more important than big things. In the solution presented here, it is a real help when dealing with small objects.
This sorting conveyor is basically very simple. It has a conveyor belt and Avancon OTUs (Omnidirectional Transfer Units)
with 9 destinations that could be expanded to
17.
In this application, the barcode reader reads the label and the small units are transported to the right or to the left into the correct container on the corresponding OTU table.

Most online e-commerce shops as well as all postal and express services have similar problems with small items. Nobody likes to use a large, heavy and expensive Tilt- or Cross-belt-sorter for these small packages. – In addition, this solution is space saving, flexible and fast for these small packs and, on top, very economical.
