Triethyl Phosphate Market: IntroductionTriethyl Phosphate (TEP) is a colorless, corrosive, mild odor solvent with chemical formula (C2H5)3PO4 which is also known as Phosphoric acid triethyl ester. The compound is primarily used as a catalyst in the production of acetic anhydride by ketene process, as a solvent and plasticizer for resins, plastics, gums, etc. TEP is also used as a raw material in the synthesis of insecticides such as tetraethyl pyrophosphate. TEP can be prepared by various processes, by reacting tetraethyl hypophosphate with ethanol in the presence of aluminum ethoxide, by treating triethylphosphite with diethyl hydrogen phosphate and also by diethyl ether and phosphorus pentoxide via a metaphosphate intermediate.
