Bad Homburg / Hückeswagen 25 April 2012. Bad Homburg-based automotive supplier ixetic GmbH is one of Germany’s top employers according to the latest “Germany’s Top Employers 2012” (“Top Arbeitgeber Deutschland 2012”) survey.

ixetic is among the companies to make it into the list of certified top employers published by the independent CRF Institute, which examined working conditions in the company and rated them very highly. “This is a great result and vindicates our personnel policy”, says Georg Wolf, Management Board Chairman of ixetic GmbH, Bad Homburg. “If we want to provide premium quality service to the automotive industry in the long term, we naturally need to improve our ‘employer qualities’ on an ongoing basis.”

Besides typical motivating factors such as salary, career opportunities within the company and retirement benefits, the study also examined other factors, such as working hours’ flexibility, recognition of personal achievement, the management of innovations and support of families.

Childcare makes careers possible

“We have created individually-controllable part-time models that go down well with families”, explains Daniel Baier, Personnel Officer at ixetic. And the personnel policy naturally also includes supporting fathers who go on maternity leave or wish to work part-time. “Childcare is important, and should not be a career killer”, emphasizes Georg Wolf. For this reason, ixetic has established a partnership with several companies in Bad Homburg. Together they offer all-day care in the “Krabbelkäfer” nursery.

Churning out ideas

Besides family friendliness, the CRF study also examined the promotion of innovation and ingenuity in the company. To support creative staff and inventors, ixetic has set up its own incentive programme. Each submitted proposal for a new product or application area is examined in detail, and everything that is implementable is rewarded with bonuses. “We have already received some highly intriguing proposals”, says Willi Parsch, Head of Development at ixetic. “They have opened up whole new areas of applications for our pumps and compressors.”

Qualified staff needed

A study commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in 2007 confirmed that satisfaction levels at ixetic’s two German plants are above average. Motivated employees are always in demand at ixetic, and last year the demand increased significantly. Currently the plants in Bad Homburg and Hückeswagen are running at almost full capacity. “Each individual employee is crucial when it comes to ensuring production runs smoothly”, says Georg Wolf.

“We need employees with a passion for technology, high social and cultural skills, and who are loyal and willing to take on responsibility”, explains Personnel Officer Daniel Baier. “A knowledge of English is important too, because ixetic has grown into an international company with German roots.”
