Shuttle XPC Barebone SZ77R5

The SZ77R5 offers support for third and second-generation Intel Core processors and PCI-Express 3.0 for state-of-the-art graphics cards

Elmshorn, Germany, 2012-04-25. Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH, the European subsidiary of Shuttle Inc., one of the leading developers and manufacturers of compact PC solutions such as the world-renowned XPC Mini-PC Barebones, is starting delivery of the XPC Barebone SZ77R5 to coincide with the launch of the innovative Intel Z77 Express chipset which it is based on.

"The Intel Z77 Express chipset is a further milestone towards the creation of energy-efficient PCs with impressive computing power", states Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing & PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. "The enormous flexibility in choice of processor also makes the SZ77R5 the first pick for users who are planning to upgrade from Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge subsequently."

In addition to the significant innovations of PCI-Express-3.0 and native USB 3.0, the XPC Barebone SZ77R5 is now able to handle all processors for the LGA1155 socket in 22 nm (Ivy Bridge) and 32 nm (Sandy Bridge) micro-architecture. A total of up to 32 GB DDR3-1600 memory can be spread across four slots. The PCIe-x16-3.0 slot is suitable for modern dual-slot graphics cards (e.g. AMD Radeon HD 7970 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680). 1x PCIe-x4-2.0 and 1x Mini-PCIe-x1-2.0 are available for expansions. The SRT feature (SSD caching) supported by the Intel Z77 Express chipset significantly accelerates system and program startup. The necessary SSD can be located in the free mSATA slot or fitted as a conventional 2.5" drive. Also optionally available is the PHD3 mounting frame that facilitates installation. Furthermore, the mainboard offers interfaces for connecting hard disks, SSDs and 2x SATA 6 Gbit/s and 2x SATA 3 Gbit/s optical drives. The following ports are easy to access on both the front and rear side of the case: HDMI, DVI-I, 4x USB 3.0 (1x with USB charging capability), 1x eSATA, S/PDIF, Gigabit LAN and 7.1-Audio. An RS-232 interface can optionally be lead from the mainboard to the back panel for enhanced connectivity (separate H-RS232 accessory).

The 33.2 x 21.6 x 19.8 cm (DWH) XPC Barebone SZ77R5 comes fitted with a 500 W 80-PLUS-certified power supply unit, enabling it to cope with the most demanding requirements.
