transport logistic 2007 - German inland ports' association calls for intelligent integration

06-06-2007 12:38 PM CET | Logistics & Transport

Press release from: Messe München

‘Inland ports – logistics inside’ – this is the motto of a presentation being put on at transport logistic 2007 by Germany´s association of public inland ports, the Bundesverband Öffentlicher Binnenhäfen (BÖB) and 22 co-exhibitors, among them external partners like the Short Sea Shipping Promotion Center (SPC). transport logistic 2007 takes place from 12 to 17 June 2007 in Munich. At its stand the BÖB is putting on a programme of events spanning several days.

The core theme of the BÖB is to link all transport carriers to locations close to urban areas, via sustainable transport concepts. “A main aim of the projected Master Plan for Freight Transport and Logistics is to promote concepts for intelligent integration,” says BÖB´s Managing Director Karl Michael Probst. “We and our partners in the freight-forwarding and logistics business are delivering tailor-made solutions and calling for more central government support for the further development of our inland ports.”

A main plank in the BÖB´s strategy at transport logistic is an events forum (Hall B4, Stand 225/326) spanning several days and featuring high-ranking representatives from politics and business. Events planned in this programme include a ‘Ports Day’, on 13 June, with best-practice case studies, and a ‘Logistics Day’, on 14 June. Further information on the BÖB´s presentation at the fair and its events programme is published in the association´s theme service list available at www.binnenhafen.de.

Also putting on presentations at transport logistic 2007 will be around 100 international maritime and inland ports, including Europe´s largest inland port, Duisburg, and international transshipment points like Antwerp, Hamburg, Le Havre and Rotterdam. Also, the trade fair will be hosting marilog 2007, an international trade conference on maritime logistics which is taking place in Munich for the second time. The title of the 2007 conference is ‘Strategy 2015 – Challenges and Success Factors for Maritime Logistics Companies’. The conference takes place on 12 June from 13:30 to 17:30 in Forum II (Hall A3). To register, and for further details go to: www.marilog.com.

About transport logistic
The 11th international trade fair for logistics, telematics and transport (12 to 15 June 2007 in Munich) presents the whole spectrum of the transport and logistics industry – telematics, in-company transport and material flow, logistics and freight transport. The fair aims to be a practical forum for information gathering and exchange in the diversely structured field of transporting freight – by road, rail, water and air. The visitor target groups of the fair are service-providers and decision-makers from the transport business, from industry, trade associations and freight logistics. In 2005 transport logistic attracted 1,333 exhibitors and around 40,000 visitors from a total of 103 countries. Over 1,570 exhibitors are expected to take part in transport logistic 2007. The statistics for the fair are independently audited on behalf of the Gesellschaft zur Freiwilligen Kontrolle von Messe- und Ausstellungszahlen (FKM), a society for the voluntary control of fair and exhibition statistics.

Messe München International (MMI) is one of the world´s leading trade-fair organisations. It organises around 40 trade fairs for capital and consumer goods, and new technology. Over 30,000 exhibitors from more than 100 countries, and over two million visitors from more than 200 countries take part each year in the trade fairs in Munich. In addition, MMI organises trade fairs in Asia, Russia, the Middle East and in South America.
