NOLA may be the Big Easy, but COVLA’s website is easy on the eyes and the wallet of the City of Covington, LA

The city of Covington, which is part of the greater New Orleans metro area, is seriously jazzed about its new website: www.covla.com. And like the nearby French Quarter, the site is getting rave reviews for its good looks, charm and ease of navigation.

The city relied on Troy, MI-based Revize Software Systems to orchestrate the overhaul. “The original website for the City of Covington looked like a simple blog,” said Revise Project Manager Akshaya Ray. “It had a very generic appearance and could have just as easily been the website for a company that sells semiconductors or restaurant supplies as for a gem of city like Covington.”

The challenges presented to the Revize team charged with developing the site were pretty typical for a municipal client. “Having so much experience with website design for government organizations we knew that Covington’s site needed to be a dynamic sales tool for the city, while also being extremely easy for residents to use,” said Ray. “Of course, we are always mindful of our client’s budgetary constraints, but this is especially important when the client is a government entity.”

Simply put, the City of Covington’s website has to make it as easy for an elderly resident to pay her water bill as for the CEO of a company considering relocating its world headquarters to quickly see all the benefits Covington offers business residents. And the redesign of the site had to be completed on time and on budget.

Selecting Revize as the vendor for this project was an easy decision. “What really stood about Revize is the fact that they carefully listened to us at every step to ensure that the City of Covington’s website is the perfect embodiment of our vision,” said Covington Mayor Mike Cooper. “Revize has been totally committed to customer service, which was also very important to us.”

The new site has also resulted in significant fiscal advantages for the city “Updating content is simple enough that there’s no need to expend IT resources on this task, which has saved us a good deal of time and money,” note Cooper.
