Press Release 26 March 2012

Final call for nominations to the Ernst & Young 2012 Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Programme

Following a hugely successful nationwide launch campaign, Ernst & Young is making its final call for nominations to this year’s Entrepreneur Of The Year™ (EOY) Programme.

Speaking at the nationwide launch of these prestigious global business awards, Frank O’Keeffe, Partner in Charge of the EOY Programme emphasised that, while our island continues to face many economic challenges, we must believe that better days lie ahead, and remain confident in the knowledge that we have the valuable human resources that will empower us to drive change and support the economic recovery – our entrepreneurs.

“Despite the numerous difficulties faced by our island’s economies and businesses in recent years, it is our entrepreneurs – North and South - who continue to push the boundaries of possibility and deliver a brighter future for all”, explains O’Keeffe. “By capitalising upon the presence of a highly-skilled workforce, an open economy and moving with global ambition, it is these pioneers and innovators that are the true trailblazers and champions who will ignite our economic resurgence.”

In this, its 15th year, the EOY Programme continues to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of entrepreneurs from across the island of Ireland.

Following the announcement of a shortlist of 24 finalists in May, our participants’ journey will take them from a CEO retreat to Silicon Valley, to the televised Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Gala Awards Night next October. The overall winner of the 2012 award will also go forward to represent Ireland at the World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ finals, 2013 where he or she will compete with over 55 country winners for this prestigious global title.

Entry to the Programme:
Entries for the 2012 Entrepreneur Of The Year™ can be made in any one of three
categories - Emerging, Industry, and International. A panel of judges, chaired by Padraig O’Ceidigh, Chairman of Aer Arann and recipient of the award in 2002, will select the shortlist, to be announced in May.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year™ Programme is supported by The Irish Times, RTE, Enterprise Ireland, Invest NI, Intertrade Ireland and Newstalk.

Entry forms and nomination criteria can be found on www.eoy.tv or by contacting Ernst & Young on +353-1-2212250. The closing date for nominations is 30 March 2012.
