MFI International is Certified as a C-TPAT Partner
El Paso, TX, March 23, 2012 --The first quarter of 2012 sees a significant step forward for the turnkey contract manufacturing company, MFI International. The company is now a fully certified partner with the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency in the Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program.The C-TPAT certification for foreign manufacturers is only available by invitation from the CBP. It is also voluntary security measure but offers a significant number of advantages for the customers of MFI International.
In particular, the company also foresees the following benefits:
• Client goods are completely secured from manufacturing plant to final destination
• CBP provides priority inspections for its C-TPAT partners
• Fewer CBP inspections mean fewer border delays
• Access to the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) process that expedites many crossborder shipments
• C-TPAT supply chain security training is available
The program itself is an initiative by the governments of the U.S., Mexico and Canada to expedite, cross border shipments even during periods of heightened security. Participants are expected to aid in the security process and in return are granted exclusive access to reduced CBP inspections and dedicated lanes at border crossings.
According to Lawrence Wollschlager, C.O.O. of MFI International, “Our company is taking a step forward to ensure that our client’s materials and finished products are secure from the moment they leave our Juarez plant to U.S. Customs and to our El Paso plant.”
As the governments of the three countries continue to evolve their strategies on maintaining border security, it can only become more difficult for cross border manufacturers to adequately supply their customers. A proactive approach to meeting this challenge sets MFI International apart from other turnkey manufacturers.
