SGS Hong Kong Accredited As a Conformity Assessment Body (CAB)

SGS is pleased to announce that its subsidiary, the International Electrical Certification Center Ltd. (IECC), has been accredited as a Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent United States government agency, established by the Communications Act of 1934. It is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's jurisdiction covers 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions.

This accreditation represents a new milestone in SGS’ Electrical & Electronics Testing Services, as the ability of the company to provide its clients with one-stop shop services is now considerably strengthened. SGS IECC is designated to perform local compliance testing on equipment subject to the Declaration of Conformity (DOC) and Certification under FCC Parts 15 and 18 of the Federal Communications Commission’s regulations. In addition, SGS Electrical & Electronics Testing Services are now complemented by IECC’s Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Product Safety Testing services.

Using a test laboratory that has an approved quality system helps provide an extra level of assurance that the work performed is both accurate and repeatable. To gain accreditation, prerequisites include procedures in place at the facility for testing and calibrations that are performed, as well as calibration traceability, site correlation, knowledgeable staff and appropriate equipment to perform testing as per the facility's scope. In addition, and other checks and balances must also ensure the quality of the work performed.
