On Saturday 17th March 2012 the Zeitgeist Movement’s Sydney Chapter will host the fourth annual Z-Day event since the inception of the global sustainability movement. Speakers lined-up for the event include Terry Leahy (co-author of the book Life Without Money), Pia Waugh (government advisor on Open Source), and Gerry Healy (Occupy activist).

Sydney, NSW, March 12, 2012 -- On Saturday 17th March 2012 the Zeitgeist Movements Sydney Chapter will host the fourth annual Z-Day event since the inception of the global sustainability movement.

This year the Movements annual flagship event consists of a series of thought-provoking presentations and lectures to inspire and empower the desire for change that lies in the hearts of so many. Hosting academics, experts and activists in the fields of economic, environmental, and social sustainability, The Zeitgeist Movement invites people of all backgrounds, ages and interests to participate in the event and learn how they can become the change they wish to see.

Z-Day is a global awareness event held all around the world in mid-March by activists from locations in more than 1100 locations and in more than 70 countries. The event promises to be a day packed with sustenance for the brain with conferences showcasing lectures from experts in sustainable energy, finance and economics, as well as environmentalists, open technologies experts and advisors, and advocates of alternative economic and trading models. The aim of the event is to focus on practical solutions that are viable right now, and easily accessible to ordinary people.

Locations throughout Australia will be celebrating in parallel on Saturday 17th with events being held in Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Perth and Brisbane, as well as Sydney. Further details of Australia-wide events can be found on www.zeitgeistaustralia.org.

Attendees of the Sydney event, whether able to attend for the whole day or just a single lecture, will be inspired and empowered by the presentations from Terry Leahy (co-author of the book Life Without Money), Gerry Healy (Occupy activist), Pia Waugh (government advisor on Open Source), Anton Szilasi (Beyond Zero Emissions), Lindsay Soutar (100% Renewable Energy), and Ross Mitchell (Open Source 3D printing expert). Speakers from the Zeitgeist Movement will also present the alternative economic model of a Resource-Based Economy, a more sustainable, equitable and democratic model based on a systemic shift in the socio-cultural zeitgeist.
