Trusted e-mail communication with CompuMail Gateway by Compumatica

Aachen/Hanover, February 21st 2012.- The latest version of the CompuMail Gateway will be presented at the CeBIT 2012 in Hanover and offers some interesting new features.

The CompuMail Gateway provided by Compumatica secure networks is a product for secure and reliable encryption of e-mail communication. Sensitive data is effectively protected against espionage attacks and intrusion attempts. The software application is centrally inserted into the SMTP chain by considering legal rules and the internal policy.

A major advantage of the CompuMail Gateway is that the protection takes place centrally – in contrast to traditional e-mail protection at the client. This means that the software itself is administrated and controlled by only one responsible person and that no additional training in managing the gateway is necessary for the users.

A new version of the CompuMail Gateway has recently been released and offers some attractive new features: PDF-Reply to different gateways is now possible. PDFMail is an encryption method for communication partners without any certificate. The partner receives the e-mail within an encrypted PDF document. For a secure reply the CompuMail Gateway offers an HTTPS page. This page is hosted on the gateway itself. By offering PDF-Reply you suggest a connection to the CompuMail Gateway. Since the gateway hosts all private keys for the internal users, some customers do not want to offer PDF-Reply. With this new feature the PDF-Reply functionality can be hosted on a second CompuMail Gateway. This second gateway only hosts the PDF-Reply page and the PDF password in a hashed form. No clear text password and no private key is placed on the second CompuMail Gateway. The main gateway communicates with the second gateway via a web service. This web service connection is secured by TLS.

A further feature that has been integrated in the new release is the interface to Comodo PKI. The CompuMail Gateway now offers a link to the Comodo PKI. For the generation of S/MIME certificates on the CompuMail Gateway the customer may choose between the internal PKI, TC Trustcenter and Comodo. The integration of further PKIs will be realized soon.
