LAUNCH OF MILLION MILE HALF MARATHON SPOTLIGHTS CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

VIRTUAL GLOBAL RACE WILL BENEFIT ‘CURE Childhood Cancer‘ WITH A MINIMUM $10 DONATION FOR EVERY RUNNER.

SAN DIEGO, CA (Sept 1, 2020) – The San Diego Half Marathon 501(c)(3) non-profit has launched the Million Mile Half Marathon, inviting runners and walkers from around the globe to a massive virtual half marathon focused on raising funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer. Each participant will receive a collectible medal
and a commemorative designer race shirt. Most importantly, a minimum of $10 from each registration will be donated to CURE Childhood Cancer, a 501(c)3 dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through funding targeted research while supporting patients and their families. With 13.1 miles distance, race organizers have set a lofty goal of 76,336 participants to collectively would equal one million miles run in the fight against the disease.

“This is a unique and difficult in time history for most of the world,” said MMHM Race Director Matt Hayes. “We think the Million Mile Half Marathon concept has the potential to provide a needed outlet to runners across the world. More importantly it offers an opportunity for people of all backgrounds and perspectives to be united in a critical cause, childhood cancer, that is meaningful to everyone.”

“As we kick-off Childhood Cancer Awareness month, we’re excited to see the Million Mile Half Marathon connect with the running community and increase awareness and raise funds for the fight against childhood cancer,” said CURE Executive Director Kristin Connor.

Participants can register join the event at millionmilehalfmarathon.com . Registration is $39 and participants have until December 31, 2020 to complete their half marathon. Participants can run or walk the 13.1 miles all at once, or a little at a time.
