Virtual Reality documentary "Führerbunker VR": NORD XR hires expert for contemporary German history

With the historian and publicist Sven Felix Kellerhoff, the team behind the Virtual Reality documentary about the last days of the Third Reich in the so-called Führerbunker gets an experienced expert on the history of National Socialism.

Kellerhoff is a full-time editor-in-chief for contemporary and cultural history at WELT and WELT am Sonntag. In addition, he writes non-fiction mainly on contemporary German history (including "The Führerbunker. Hitler's last refuge"). He has been dealing with the "Führerbunker" for around 20 years and was the first researcher to evaluate the construction files in the German federal archives (Staatsarchiv) and the GDR's "Stasi protocols" on the 1973 inspection.

"The so-called Führerbunker offers a spatial and temporal concentrate of absurdity and madness that was so characteristic of the Third Reich. It is fascinating to be able to explore this site, which was last seen in May 1945, using Virtual Reality. The digital reconstruction makes the oppression of 'Hitler's cave' almost physically perceptible and serves as a memorial, so that this dark chapter is not forgotten", says Kellerhoff.

Project manager Martin Schwiezer adds: "To unlock the high potential of Virtual Reality documentaries and also to be noticed outside the VR bubble, maximum historical authenticity is imperative. The sensitive topic requires care and accuracy. Against this background, we are pleased that we were able to win Mr. Kellerhoff as a consultant for our virtual reconstruction."

Führerbunker VR will be released in Q3/2021 as the prelude to the VR documentary series TIME & HISTORY for all leading VR headsets and Windows PC (non-VR).
