‘Something’s Gotta Give’ Inspired Home in Gig Harbor Hits the Market
(Gig Harbor, WA) - On June 11th, 2020, the ‘Something’s Gotta Give’ inspired home, located at 4803 Saddleback Dr, hit the market for $1,850,000. The luxurious 2-story 4-bed home is perched above the 2nd fairway at Gig Harbor’s exclusive Canterwood Golf & Country Club. It was built nearly 2-years (2005) after the release of Nancy Meyers’ film, ‘Something’s Gotta Give,’ which netted actress Diane Keaton a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination, and actor Jack Nicholson, with a Golden Globe nomination. The Gig Harbor home and the ‘Something’s Gotta Give house,’ have many similarities; from being exceedingly spacious with 7367 square feet, to its’ coastal grey exterior. From the moment you walk in the home, you’re entranced by the beautiful slate tile, it’s aesthetically soothing colors. Then on to the living room, with it’s impeccable stone wall fireplace (the home has 2), and warm wood tones. The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances, triple slab granite countertops, and walnut cabinets. The bathrooms (2-full, 3-partials) have granite countertops and spacious walk-in showers. Other house features include: an oversized 3-car garage, a circular driveway, balconies, media and game rooms, fitness room, 9-sets of french doors, plush carpet, elegant ceiling designs, 3-walk-in-closets, and an indoor Viking grill.
When working on ‘Something’s Gotta Give,’ Nancy Meyers wanted the house to be spacious, with a nice view; in an attempt to keep the film from feeling like a stage. On the issue she had this to say, “It’s about depth of field, constantly looking from room to room, out a window, believing the beach is beyond. In one scene, where Jack is in the bedroom and Diane stands in the doorway, you see past her into the living room and kitchen. You shouldn’t feel claustrophobic.” The set decorator added, “Hamptons houses that size have space, simplicity and a certain austerity.” The home it inspired in Gig Harbor, WA, embodies so much of that. In essence, it’s like living in a movie.
