COVID-19: Thailand has reported a very low Covid-19 infection rate of 3,129 with 58 deaths and is ranked 87, one of the lowest countries in the world for infections. Last locally transmitted case was on May 25th and recovery rate is at 98% or better. The Thai people have embraced safety, security and healthy practices to ensure that the people will endure and survive this global challenge. As travel restrictions ease Thailand is refreshing their image to be a trusted destination where tourists can have peace of mind. The countries new slogan is “Amazing Trusted Thailand” and will implement a health certification system for hotels and restaurants so that travelers can be reassured of safety.
Lifestyle: Thailand is one of the most visited countries of the world, and offers a broad range of climate, activities and experiences. Presenting a great lifestyle destination, Thailand has wonderful weather, shopping centers, beaches and sports such as golf and sailing. Five-star resorts and international cuisine are available in all the major destinations in the country. Thailand also has excellent international schools, a first-class healthcare system and a low cost of living. In addition, there are various visa options, including retirement visas, education visas and investment visas, which allow investors to enjoy their real estate ownership.
Investment: According to the World Bank Group report on the 2020 Best Countries to Invest in Thailand ranks second. The country has capitalized greatly on the trade tension between the US and China and many investors have turned their attention towards Thailand. In the first nine months of 2019, the country received a 69% increase in the total value of Foreign Direct Investment applications, as compared to 2018. The growth of the Thai market and her momentum indicators have remained steady and strong. Forbes listed the country as the 8th best-emerging market of 2020.
Property: Thailand offers a wide variety of property types, locations and price ranges, all with solid ownership rules. With the slump in the economy some developers are offering deep discounts to move their inventory. Resale home owners are also reducing prices with some sellers offering up to 30% discounts on 2019 asking prices. These fantastic and low prices for real estate will only last so long before they start to climb back up to pre-Covid levels.
