FAST CASUAL BURGER CHAIN TO DOUBLE UNITS IN 2012
(Dallas, TX) January 6, 2011 – Americans are craving better burgers. Impersonal fast food is out, and friendly fast casual service that delivers on a wide variety of options is in. MOOYAH, which serves top notch burgers, fries, and shakes, is leading the way in one of the fastest growing segments of the restaurant industry.
The proof isn’t in the pudding, but in the thick and frosty signature milkshakes. The better burger brand saw jaw-dropping growth in 2011, expanding out of its home state of Texas into California, Connecticut, and Tennessee.
In 2012, the brand plans to nearly double the number of existing units, peppering the nation with new restaurants in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C.
“Our success hinges on the idea of one. One burger, one shake, one meal at a time. It’s about delivering an experience that’s fun and giving people exactly the kind of burger they’re hungry for,” says MOOYAH president Alan Hixon.
Hixon and brand founders Rich Hicks and Todd Istre are seasoned restaurateurs who have helped launch several popular restaurant chains. Their combined experience is part of what is leading MOOYAH straight to the forefront of the better burger industry.
The brand’s unit growth for 2011 is 73 percent, with development contracts and agreements in place for more than 300 units.
“We’re focused on the quality of everything we bring our guests,” says Hixon. “Our brand is ‘real, fresh, and fun,’ and that involves every inch of our process including atmosphere, service, food, drinks, and overall product quality.”

MOOYAH’s Fast Casual Future

MOOYAH may be a restaurant chain that’s all about fun, but it’s serious about quality ingredients. Vegetables are always fresh, and everything from teas brewed daily to Jennie-O turkey and Heinz ketchup is high quality.
Burger fans aren’t the only ones to notice that MOOYAH is at the top of its game. Industry insiders have consistently named the chain as a brand to watch. BurgerBusiness, an online news site dedicated exclusively to the burger business, included MOOYAH in its list of “11 Burger Chains to Watch in 2011.” FastCasual.com also listed the brand twice in its annual Top 100 Movers & Shakers; in 2009, MOOYAH was listed as #1.
“At MOOYAH it’s OK to be a little loud, OK to be a little messy and always OK to come as you are, be who you are and get really comfortable. With a million ways to make your burger yours, it’s one of the few places where everyone can get exactly what they want,” says Hixon. “That’s a concept we believe in, and we’re looking forward to a delicious 2012.”
