A New AI-Based Platform Prevents Cheating in Remote Delivery Before It Happens

Toronto, ON - Preemptor AI today announced the launch of its anti-plagiarism and impersonation platform for Colleges and Universities. This new technology can help institutions of higher learning prevent fraud by using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Preemptor AI can identify whether a student is completing their own test or assignment; and, whether it is an original work or something they have copied.

Preemptor AI was the brainchild of professor and entrepreneur, Midierson Maia, Ph.D. He saw the need for an online invigilation system that would promote behaviour modification. The basic technology uses the student's "typing cadence" to determine their identity. This identity profile can be captured by AI to create something similar to a fingerprint to identify the individual. This new technology is called Identity Verification in Remote Delivery or IVRD.

"What makes Preemptor AI different from other solutions is its ability to determine the use of surrogates", states Midierson Maia. "Preemptor uses Artificial Intelligence not only to detect, but also to prevent impersonation before it takes place. Our research also suggests that once students become aware that AI is being used to detect impersonation and plagiarism, violations tend to decline in prevalence," Maia added.

In addition, Preemptor AI can also be augmented with additional capabilities to verify student identity including facial recognition, voice recognition, screen sharing, and, biometric identification including fingerprint and iris scan (development in-progress).

Invigilating exam creates challenges under normal conditions. As the coronavirus continues to spread, remote delivery is becoming the norm and pose even greater challenges to colleges and universities. Preemptor AI prevents cheating under these conditions ensuring that the test results are valid and fair.
