WHAT: The chessboard has long been the battlefield for great intellects. This January, the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) will allow you to test your own mental might, as it offers an introductory class on the most popular board game in the world. In "Checkmate: Beginners Chess" students will learn the game's history, rules, setup, movement and strategies from the president of the Boston Chess Club and Class A rated player, Hector Perez. Perez will explain the intricacies of one of the world's most universally challenging and rewarding games. Sounds like serious fun!

This four-week course, which runs Monday nights from 5:30PM to 7:30PM starting January 23rd, 2012 is for beginners—the perfect opportunity for those checker players who always wanted to learn chess. Practice with classmates and then take your game home or on the road for a lifetime of enjoyment. Sign up at www.BCAE.org today.

Founded in 1933, the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) is the first, nonprofit adult education center in New England. The Boston Center for Adult Education serves as a meeting place for the Boston community to gather, learn, discuss and create. Today the BCAE teaches classes in Boston for almost every interest.
