According to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres "while the COVID-19 pandemic is first and foremost a health crisis, its implications are more far-reaching and could threaten global peace and security potentially leading to an increase in social unrest and violence that would greatly undermine the very ability to fight the disease'. The economic impacts could create "major stressors" in fragile societies or less developed countries. The ensuing economic instability is bound to have devastating consequences for women as they make up the majority in the worst-affected sectors.

Alumnus of Institution of Eminence in India today, Birla Institute of Technology and Science - BITS Pilani, Dr Kanak Madrecha presently based in Dubai has been awarded by several organizations for his leadership contributions to business excellence field in UAE / GCC. He is the only excellence advisor in UAE who has supported 39 large & reputed organizations from public, private and government sector in UAE to win 80 prestigious excellence awards in UAE during last 18 years. He also led assessment of 100+ external and 5 internal excellence awards.

Dr Kanak Principal Consultant / Managing Director (Dr Kanak Madrecha & Associates FZ LLE) and President (Global Development, Supply Chain & Logistics Group/SCLG) is a world class leader and professional in business excellence and supply chain & logistics. He has the distinction of being honored by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai several times for his notable leadership contributions to business excellence movement in emirate of Dubai / UAE.

His experience spanning 37 years include at Mumbai Philips India, NITIE and Siemens Information System as well as at Dubai the Kanoo Group - UAE & Oman, DP World-UAE Region and Municipality of Abu Dhabi City. Dr Kanak Madrecha took the initiative to organize an Online Global Peace Conference which was conducted on 16 May 2020. Despite the lockdown it was attended by over 50 delegates from 17 countries i.e. India, USA, Canada, UK, Finland, Poland, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Cyprus, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan etc. (spread across 5 Continents). The Conference was chaired by Dr Kanak Madrecha, Global Peace Ambassador (from BITS Pilani (74-79 Batch)) who is now working as Excellence Advisor/Management Consultant in Dubai/UAE.

Dr Kanak was supported by number of BITS Pilani Alumni from different parts of the world who include Sumit Chordia, Ranjan Shukla, Anil Koul, Ashok Jain, Rajesh Jain, Jagdish Roy, Sanjeev Punj, Hemant Kumar, Pankaj Patel & VIvek Sethi as Speakers. The conference deliberated on various Global Peace related projects / initiatives / channels of promoting peace across the globe to make this world a more peaceful place to live in for all human beings now & in future. All Speakers & delegates committed to working towards establishing global peace.
