Press release from: Ryder Industries

New manufacturing site in Jiangxi, China

Hong Kong / Waldkraiburg, 19th December 2011 – With its new subsidiary Ryder Electronics Xinfeng Ltd. in Jiangxi province, China, EMS specialist Ryder Industries has added cable assembly to its services. Ryder Industries is expecting strong growth over the coming years: the new subsidiary Ryder Electronics Xinfeng is located about 450 km north of Shenzhen and is a fully vertically integrated manufacturing site in multiple buildings. On a floor space of 40,000m² it offers in-house plastic injection facilities, SMT production lines and final assembly. The first construction phase with a manufacturing area of about 26,000m² is scheduled for completion in 2012.

The new site in Jiangxi will allow Ryder Industries to meet growing demand, addressing professional audio, consumer, and domestic electronic as well as RF solutions, automotive and industrial.

In anticipation of the opening of its plant in Jiangxi, Ryder took on more than 300 employees and trained them in the Shenzhen production site for electronic manufacturing and especially for cable assembly. Georg Diakourakis, Vice President Associate, Business Development at Ryder Industries, explains: “These new staff members have been prepared extensively for operations at the Xinfeng site. This forward-looking measure will allow for a smooth ramp-up in the new plant, from sample to small- and large-volume production.”

Efficient modern machines and a large number of crimp tools ensure high quality cable manufacturing. The product range encompasses strand manufacturing and contacting with wire diameters from AWG12 to AWG32, cable assembly and complex cable harnesses. On request, cables, assemblies and connectors can be labelled using different labelling systems. In order to meet stringent quality requirements, the cables are subjected to extensive tests, e.g. salt spray and wire bending tests as well as short circuit strength and tensile strength tests. “We manufacture all kinds of cable assemblies according to our customers’ wishes and requirements,” explains Diakourakis.

Diakourakis notes that Ryder Industries has positioned itself to offer one-stop turn-key solutions from design and development to a tested, ready-for-sale packaged product. “Due to the close interaction between manufacturing sites, Ryder can offer a broad spectrum of services ranging from traditional electronic manufacturing services like development, material procurement, PCB assembly and plastic production up to final assembly of modules and systems,” he says.

About Ryder Industries Ltd.
Ryder Industries was founded in 1979 in Hong Kong, by Swiss scientist and entrepreneur Eric Winkler. In its early years, the company was dedicated exclusively to design and manufacture of its own products chess computers and high quality computer game peripherals, which were sold around the globe under the brand names Kasparov, Mephisto and Saitek. The company undertook its first contract manufacturing projects in the nineties. What started as a sideline developed so well over the following years that the company decided to sell its branded product division in 2007 and focus on the EMS business. The group changed its name from Saitek to Ryder Industries Ltd. that same year and has been operating exclusively as an EMS provider ever since.

Being an Asian enterprise with European DNA, Ryder feels a unique responsibility towards its customers, suppliers and employees, especially with respect to business ethics and its social and environmental responsibilities. In recognition of its very high standards and continuous engagement in these areas, Ryder has received a series of awards from the Chinese government, and has enjoyed the prestigious “AA” enterprise certification since 1996.
