EMS provider Ryder Industries wins DIN EN ISO 13485 certification

Hongkong/Waldkraiburg, October 28th, 2011 – Ryder Industries Ltd., a Swiss-owned group of companies headquartered in Hong Kong with production sites in China, has gained official authorisation to manufacture electronic assemblies for medical products: Ryder has successfully concluded the ISO13485 certification for one of its two Shenzen manufacturing sites. Ryder’s certification was issued by TÜV Nord Cert GmbH from Essen, which attested that the electronic manufacturing service provider has adopted a quality management system according to ISO 13485:2003 + AC:2009 / DIN EN ISO 13485:2010 and keeps it up.

This development represents a significant enhancement in Ryder’s electronic manufacturing services (EMS) market opportunities: “The certification was the logical next step in our ongoing development of design and manufacturing capabilities, especially for medical technology”, explains Georg Diakourakis. The Vice President Associate, responsible for Ryder Industries’ European business development, characterises the certification as a huge success for the company: “It shows that we’re offering detailed, reliable services for our customers and confirms not only our comprehensive expertise and sophisticated process capabilities but also our high quality and service standards.”

The international standard ISO 13485 accounts for the specific requirements of medical products and regulates development, manufacturing and maintenance of such products. In order to receive this certificate, manufacturing processes and services have to meet the customer’s highest requirements as well as the strict legal demands of the German Medicinal Products Act and the European Medicinal Products Directive.

EMS provider Ryder Industries has three production sites in China, two in Shenzhen and the third currently under construction in Jiangxi. The new campus will occupy an area of 70.000 m². Phase 1 with 26.000 m² is due for completion in Q2 2012. The company currently operates 11 SMT production lines with a total capacity of 12,000,000 components per day, offering EMS solutions for high product mix and small (from 1,000 pcs) to medium volumes. The company has already been certified according to ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO/TS 16949 (automotive) in order to meet the high quality requirements of its customers in the areas of pro audio, RF, domestic appliances, home audio, precision controls, automotive technology and industrial electronics. Moreover, Laird Technologies, a leading global manufacturer of electronic systems for telematics and wireless communication, has awarded Ryder its “Best Supplier Award 2010”.
