Nominations in 5 categories rewarding outstanding accomplishments in Building Controls Industry

Coventry, UK—May 14, 2007—LONMARK International (LMI), recognized as the industry authority for certification, education and promotion of interoperability standards is pleased to announce that five LONMARK members have been nominated in The Building Controls Industry Awards 2007, to be held on May 17. The awards will honour and support best practices in building automation, bringing the business together in acknowledgement of its leaders and their achievements.

LONMARK International members make up 41% of the finalists in the six on-line voting categories including Engineer of the Year, Student of the Year, Systems Integrator of the Year, Technical Innovation of the Year and the Energy Management Award. LONMARK is committed to helping its members expand the market for interoperable products and these nominations are proof of the industry’s stride towards open systems.

Some insight into the LONMARK members nominated and their successes:

Engineer of the Year – Jeff Howlett, Bill Joyce and Andrew Freezer
As an Engineering Sales Support Engineer at Honeywell, Jeff Howlett has made his mark over the last 20 years. One of his most notable achievements is working on CentraLine, innovative and progressive HVAC solutions using LONWORKS technology.

Bill Joyce of Siemens Building Technologies has made his imprint helping Siemens recruit and train some of the brightest in the industry. As a Technical Support Supervisor, Joyce has passed on his expertise in servicing networks based on independent product selection, a unique advantage of open systems.

Andrew Freezer is a Senior Systems Analysts at TAC Satchwell and one of the first to integrate LONWORKS technology. His many achievements include managing an integration team that created an award winning interoperable network using LONWORKS technology and first-rate products from multiple suppliers.

On being nominated for his LONWORKS knowledge Andrew Freezer stated, “I started using LONWORKS in 1997 and the biggest benefit I found is that as more manufacturers implement the LONWORKS interface, the connection of different products becomes easier but the network offers more detailed information for the end user, which means that the system can be used more efficiently.” Mr. Freezer also pointed out that once manufacturers, system integrators, and end users experience the invaluable advantages of using open systems, the transition to standardization of products is unstoppable.

Student of the Year - Lawrence Nunn
Lawrence joined Saturo Controls at the age of 16 as an apprentice engineer. At Saturo, Lawrence has undergone extensive training to integrate multi-vendor controls solutions and has proved his potential with excellence in planning networks with best-of-breed products.

Systems Integrator of the Year – Saturo Controls and TAC Satchwell
As a LONMARK member, Saturo Controls has been designing networks that match its customers’ exact needs. By offering efficient systems that offer the option to expand and integrate new products for whatever the future requires, Saturo Controls has built a strong reputation.

TAC Satchwell has over 20 LONMARK certified products and has created unmatched LONWORKS controls solutions with immense energy and cost saving benefits. Creating open, interoperable products is one of TAC Satchwell’s key strengths.

TAC Satchwell and Siemens Building Technologies are also competing for Technical Innovation of the Year, while Saturo Controls has also been nominated for the Energy Management Award.

The successes of LONMARK members are a tribute to the growing market demand for interoperable network solutions.
