North America dominates the global agricultural robots market, followed by Europe. The demand for agricultural robots in North America is fueled by the increasing number of small companies/start-ups focused on developing agricultural robots in the US. Though the adoption of agricultural robots in APAC is less, the region has enormous scope due to the large areas of cultivation and growing demand for food due to high population growth. China and Japan are expected to lead in R&D activities concerning agricultural robots. Agricultural robots are in a nascent stage in China; however, Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other Chinese institutions are focusing on developing such robots. The availability of cheap labor is one of the major factors hindering the adoption of agricultural robots in APAC. Unlike western countries, Asian countries, including China and India, have a huge working-class population and the average wages are considerably low.

Another major factor influencing the development of agricultural robots is the increased focus and investments in artificial intelligence (AI). AI is being integrated into robotics, especially in drones, planting robots, crop/soil monitoring, and weed control robots. Predictive analytics, a part of AI, is used for tracking and predicting environmental impacts on crop yield.
