Actos Bladder Cancer Lawsuits Expected to Top 10,000

Press release from: Nadrich & Cohen, LLP

Los Angeles, CA, December 2, 2011 --- The number of lawsuits stemming from Actos bladder cancer claims may reach more than 10,000, according to a Bloomberg report. In response, national law firm Nadrich & Cohen, LLP has launched a new Actos bladder cancer resource website to assist patients in filing their claims.

Visitors to www.SideEffectActos.com can read up on the link between Actos and bladder cancer, get the latest updates on the Actos litigation and fill out a free confidential form to schedule a consultation with one of the firm’s experienced Actos attorneys. The California-based firm is currently investigating claims from patients in all 50 states who allege that taking Actos caused them to develop bladder cancer and other serious side effects.

Takeda Pharmaceuticals, the Japanese manufacturer of Actos, currently faces approximately 3,500 injury lawsuits from patients who say they’ve been harmed by Actos. The Type 2 diabetes drug has been the focus of an ongoing safety investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration since September 2010. In June 2011, the FDA issued a new warning advising Actos users that remaining on the drug longer than a year could significantly increase the risk of developing bladder cancer.

Health officials in France and Germany have already issued a recall of the drug based on the potential for serious side effects. Despite this limited recall, the European Medical Agency continues to support the use of Actos for diabetes patients when other treatment methods have proven insufficient.

A recall in the U.S. could be a serious blow to Takeda, who reported nearly $4 billion in earnings last year in Actos sales. The FDA recently made the decision to delay review of a new Type 2 diabetes drug manufactured by the company which combines Actos with another drug, algoliptin. As of yet, Takeda has yet to issue any statement about the pending Actos lawsuits.

If you or someone you love has developed bladder cancer after using Actos, the law firm of Nadrich & Cohen, LLP urges you to contact their Injury Hotline at 1-800-722-0765. The firm is currently offering free initial case evaluations for Actos users who believe they may have a claim after being injured by the drug. If you’ve used Actos but have not yet experienced any serious side effects, you may visit www.SideEffectActos.com for the latest news, updates and information about the pending litigation. Don’t hesitate to call today to speak with one of the firm’s experienced Actos injury attorneys.
