Book Author Donates All Profits to Help Provide Scholarships to Military Families
Washington, DC - While the word "contrarian" among financial investors typically means someone who goes against the prevailing wisdom common to other investors, the same approach can be used in marketing.At least that's what author Nick T. Mavrick, a brand development specialist and frequently quoted marketing expert, believes. His new book, released in October, 2011 and titled "Contrarian Marketing" takes aim at what companies and their sales teams are doing wrong. "It's not magic, just math," says Mavrick of his quantitative approach. "Mining for the best customers rather than marketing to the masses is what works in today's unstable economic climate. Going against the grain is critical to survival for companies large and small." In essence, Mavrick tells companies to identify, clone and keep the "best of the best" rather than trying to be all things to all customers.
In a contrarian move of his own, Mavrick is donating 100 percent of the book's profits to the national Folds of Honor Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity that provides post-secondary educational scholarships to the spouses and children of service members disabled or killed as a result of their military service. In addition, Mavrick offers seminars to major companies nationwide in exchange for their donation to the Folds of Honor. His goal is to raise half a million dollars for the charity.
