PANJAH MUSIC, a new Berlin based music label founded by Reggae singer/musician Ras Perez, and singer/songwriter Jahnin, is proud to announce the release of “WhodohknoW”. It can be described as “an intimate dash of cool and hot music, spread out below a tapestery of conscious text, peppered by intermittent, groovy, rootsy surges”. In a nutshell, this ground breaking album signals a fresh outlook into artistic expression and consciousness as it forges its way into today's music .
This release may well prove to be one of the most innovative and dynamic albums of this genre for the year 2007 in Germany. Modern old-school roots reggae with conscious lyrics and global understanding. Self-produced by Ras Perez, who assembled a pragmatic and far reaching audio soundscape that can easily serve as the score for a Euro-Caribbean documentary or action film. As a tour de force of witty lyrics, and original sonic stylings, “WhodohknoW” will appeal to both "street" and "home". CDs can be purchased online, and one click will take you to hear a sound sample.
Ras Perez is a multi-instrumentalist, and recently there has been a steady and increasing buzz building around his music, eventually gaining evergrowing attention. Now in studio on Jahnin's follow up album, Ras Perez has also shared the stage with artists such as Ras Donovan and Paul St. Hilaire among others.
Other releases from PANJAH MUSIC include three albums from Ras Perez. "Over the Hills" which was first released in 1996, "Zion Vibes", "Jah Son", "WhodohknoW", and Jahnin's debut album "Dr.Design". All tracks are produced by Ras, with additional vocals from Jahnin. Other Caribbean styles such as zouk and cadence-lypso are also featured on his albums. "JAH SON" in particular represents a special side of Ras Perez' musical expression and new projects are already on the musical drawing board.
