China's 5G optical module makers are set to dominate the global market by 2020, accounting for more than 50 percent of the market, while South Korea and North America are also making significant contributions to the market.
It is estimated that 4.1 million macro stations and 8.2 million small base stations will be needed for 5G base stations.
In accordance with the consultation on 5G spectrum usage released by the ministry of industry and information technology in November 2017, it announced plans for 3300-3600mhz and 4800-5000mhz as the working frequency bands of 5G.
From the perspective of the construction demand of 5G, 5G will adopt the mode of network coverage of "macro station + small station".In terms of 5G macro stations, if the continuous coverage is 3.5g and above, the number of 5G base stations may be 1.5-2 times that of 4G.With continuous coverage of 2.6g and below, the number of base stations is expected to be comparable to 4G.
China's 5G network policy support and construction investment is large, the number of macro and small stations will be proportional to the introduction of prequel and return optical module demand, to bring strong growth to the telecommunications network market.
