Atmail Webmail Server 6.3 – One-Click iOS Provisioning with CalDAV/CardDAV
Sydney, November 10, 2011 - Latest Atmail 6.3 releaseAtmail, best known for its leading webmail solution, today announced the release of the revolutionary one-click iOS provisioning for Email, Calendars and Contacts.
This humble feature is expected to enable a new wave of mobility. Across Atmail’s 4500+ customer base, iOS provisioning will help ISPs, Telcos, Enterprises and even SMBs to enable synchronised Email, Calendar and Contacts on their mobile iOS devices.
“ While Email, Calendar and Contacts mobility is nothing new, the last step in setting up iPhones, iPads and iPods proofed to be the most difficult one. End-users simply got lost in setting screens and caused a support nightmare. The result was that mobility was not encouraged on a large scale. This can now change,” said Ben Duncan, Atmail CEO.
The end-user simply navigates to a web page from their iOS device, confirm their username and password and a second later the device will start synchronising email, calendar and contacts directly into the native iOS applications – without the need for another app.
Atmail is fully embracing open-protocol based solutions over proprietary products. With the new 6.3 release Atmail ships with a CalDAV calendar server and CardDAV contact server.
CalDAV is an Internet standard that allows client to access calendars on a remote server. CardDAV allows users to access and share contact data. Both protocols extend the HTML based WebDAV specification. CalDAV data uses the iCalendar format and CardDAV uses the vCard format. This allows multiple client access to the same information thus allowing cooperative planning and information sharing. CalDAV and CardDAV are now widely supported and up to 75% faster and lighter than previous solutions.
Atmail develops fixed and mobile email messaging and collaboration solutions. Products include, Atmail Cloud Services, Atmail Webmail, Atmail Email Server, Atmail Email Server Appliance. The company has more than 4500 customers worldwide, including 1st tier ISPs, Telcos, global corporations and government agencies. Atmail now has more than 15 million users.
