The annual VCT and EIS Investor Forum is fast approaching

The annual VCT and EIS Investor Forum is fast approaching

Government changes to the Venture Capital Trust and Enterprise Investment Scheme that have enhanced opportunities for private investors will take centre-stage at this year’s VCT and EIS Investor Forum in London later this month.

Hundreds of private investors will converge with representatives of the VCT and EIS fund management community on Wednesday, 23rd November for what is now a key event in the UK investment calendar.

Simon Calver, CEO of LOVEFILM, will be keynote speaker, sharing his experiences in building one of the most successful UK brands in recent years, and providing an insight into the current economic climate and its impact on entrepreneurial growth.

“Last year’s inaugural VCT and EIS Investor Forum set the benchmark,” said Modwenna Rees-Mogg, of event organiser, AngelNews.

“With the Government’s changes to the VCT and EIS schemes it was imperative that private investors and the fund management community were brought together again to discuss the key topics in the industry.

“Investing in alternative assets such as VCTs and EIS funds is no longer just about selecting from prospectuses that land on the doormat. It is essential for investors to carry out their own research, and that includes challenging fund managers in person, to find out how they are going to deliver positive financial returns.”

Modwenna added: “The best opportunity of all is to meet as many fund managers as possible in one place, at one time, so private investors can compare the various fund approaches and find out which one best suits their investment style. The VCT and EIS Investor Forum is the UK's only event dedicated to making that happen.”

Taking place at Dexter House, Tower Hill, London, between 9am and 6pm, the forum includes a day-long agenda of talks, debates and networking opportunities involving quality individuals and organisations within the EIS and VCT investment sector.

Key topics will include what the new trends and ‘hot’ sectors for investment are; hidden benefits of VCT and EIS; differences and benefits between planned exit, generalist and specialist fund models; the role of government in supporting the growth of UK enterprise; and first-hand experiences from an EIS investee company.

Firms exhibiting on the day include: Highgate Associates, Octopus Investments, YFM Equity Partners, Albion Ventures, Oxford Capital Partners, Mercia Fund Management, MMC Ventures, Calculus Capital, Foresight Group, Harcourt Capital, and WHIreland.

Supporting and attending the event are Munich RE, RW Blears Solicitors, The Telegraph Business Club, DFJ Esprit, Winterflood Securities, Klaro Partners, PKF, EISA, BVCA and Growth Company Investor.

Details of the event and bookings can be found at www.thevctandeisinvestorforum.com.
