The Fastfit Centre performs quick fix on classic Honda to help wife visit sick husband in hospital

A St Helens car garage went above and beyond to help Mrs Skidmore see her husband in Whiston Hospital after her rare Honda broke down.

Mrs Skidmore, who drives a 1990 Honda Civic, saw her car's radiator, starter motor and battery need replacing while her husband was in hospital to undergo heart surgery. Her broken down car made visiting her husband especially difficult, and finding the right company to fix her car looked like an impossible task due to its age and rarity.

She reached out to St Helens' auto garage the Fastfit Centre, which pulled out all the stops to source the rare and unusual parts they needed to fix the car. On 17th March, the Honda was fixed, and Mrs Skidmore was on the way to visit her sick husband.

Mark Coakley, director of the Fastfit Centre, said:

"The Civic needed a new radiator, starter motor and battery, and sourcing car parts for a 30-year-old Honda isn't a simple job!

"I did everything I could to find these rare Honda parts so I could get Mrs Skidmore back on the road as quickly as possible.

"It wasn't easy, but I knew that she needed to see her husband in hospital, so we put in every effort to repair her car.

"I just did what I'd hope someone would do for me or my family if one of us was in hospital.

"As a car nerd myself, it was a joy to fix this old car, too! It's always exciting to take on a new project and to work on a more classic car.

"I was really pleased when Mrs Skidmore got in touch with us to tell us what a difference we made, and how happy her husband was to see her."

Mrs Skidmore said:

"Mark and the team at the Fastfit Centre were an absolute Godsend!

"We had the Honda Civic since it was new, and it meant the world to me that it could be fixed so I could get to my husband.

"I've used the FastFit Centre for my other vehicle so I knew they were reliable but the fact that we were straight on the Honda Civic under the circumstances meant my husband had a better day."
