Emerge Clinical Solutions, the creator of premier clinical decision cardiology software, today announced it has chosen established law firm Rosenthal Pauerstein Sandoloski Agather LLP (RPSA) as its outside counsel.

RPSA will provide legal guidance for Emerge’s corporate transactions as well as for the creation, acquisition and protection of its intellectual property. The firm is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas.

Emerge’s selection of outside counsel comes just months after the company was acquired by Texas investment group Emerge Equity Holdings, Ltd. Relocating offices from Kansas City to Dallas and choosing a Texas law firm have cemented the company’s commitment to its Texas headquarters.

“We are proud to represent Emerge at their critical time of growth, evolution, and development,” says Brian Feld, a partner who is leading RPSA’s team for Emerge. Feld, a Partner in RPSA’s Business & Corporate Transactions practice group, has extensive experience in mergers, formation of business entities, acquisitions and reorganizations.

RPSA Partner William H. Quirk will manage Emerge’s IP portfolio. Quirk is head of RPSA’s Intellectual Property practice group and is a certified patent attorney with more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property law.

Scott Finfer, CEO of Emerge, believes going with RPSA was a clear choice. “Our experience with the firm at previous companies made it a no-brainer to consider RPSA for this new venture,” he says. “Brian Feld’s mind for navigating through difficult business issues combined with a seasoned expert like William Quirk protecting our IP made for a unanimous decision when it was time to choose outside counsel.”

Emerge’s software is a real time systematic solution for cardiologists that aims to revolutionize the diagnosis landscape. By merging medical data with complex algorithms to refine diagnoses, Emerge’s software is helping cardiologists make more accurate and efficient diagnoses for every patient.

As a middleware product, Emerge’s software operates behind any existing electronic medical record system and seamlessly blends new patient information with medical history files. This data is run through a patented algorithm and rules engine to help doctors pinpoint the most accurate diagnosis possible.

The result is faster, simpler condition identification and more refined treatment options that save doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, and patient’s time and money. The software may also be a lifesaver; the product can boost identification of cardiac diseases, the top medical killer in the United States, by as much as 300 percent.

By allowing doctors to better monitor and report patient performance, the product also mitigates legal risks and helps practices and hospitals stay within the guidelines established by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.

“When patients are diagnosed as accurately as possible at the start of treatment, they can save valuable time and skip unnecessary tests,” says Dr. William Daniel, the physician who developed the company’s signature diagnosis software suite. Daniel has stayed on with Emerge as Chief Medical Officer.

“Better diagnosis in the beginning means fewer stressful and costly emergency visits, and in the long term it will also save a lot of lives,” says Daniel.
