Canadian Mother Attempts to Make Internet History
Lisa Campbell, mother of 3 and part time webmaster hopes to “Tip The Internet” for charity on August 17th 2007.Inspired by the success of The Million Dollar Homepage created by student Alex Tew, Lisa thought that the idea of tipping the internet under the virtual weight of visitors was a unique idea worth trying.
Each visitor on August 17th will be given the opportunity to donate $5.00 in exchange for a place on the “Internet Tipping Wall of Fame”. The wall of fame will be in the form of the million dollar home page but each donor will receive an equal space to leave their name or a link to their website or company advertisement.
When asked about the project, Lisa had this to say;
“Of course http://www.tiptheinternet.com was created to make money but I’m a firm believer in ‘paying it forward’ so I decided that I couldn’t be the only one to benefit from this.”
Lisa has chosen 5 children’s charities to share with. Each visitor who donates will be able to choose one of the five charities she’s chosen and half of their donation will go to that charity. If the visitor chooses to donate more than the five dollar minimum, everything over the $5.00 will go to the chosen charity.
The chosen charities are;
• Oprah’s Angel Network http://www.oprahsangelnetwork.org/
• The University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research http://www.medschool.umaryland.edu/celiac/default.asp
• The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation http://www.pedaids.org/
• Feed the children (world) http://www.feedthechildren.org
• SOS Children http://www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk
For more information please visit Tiptheinternet.com
Tip The Internet aspires to draw a record number of visitors on August 17th to raise money for charity.
