Comprehensive live Internet statistics show worldwide traffic patterns in real-time

Leipzig, 28 September 2011 – ipoque, the leading European provider of Internet traffic management solutions, today announced the launch of its Internet Observatory – the Internet’s new spot for real-time Internet traffic statistics from all over the world.

Internet Observatory is the successor of ipoque’s Internet Studies, which have been a reliable source for traffic information ever since they were first published in 2006. Although comprehensive, the studies were just snapshots of traffic patterns during a certain time period. Now, with the Internet traffic mix always changing and new applications, particularly in the mobile space, constantly appearing in the market, it is time for something new: Internet Observatory traffic statistics are available live, 24 hours a day, with long-term views instead of just a snapshot.

“We want the Internet Observatory to become an Internet seismograph, an information service for everybody seeking reliable data about what happens on the Internet in various regions of the world, at every time of the day,” says Klaus Mochalski, responsible for the project at ipoque. “And we are already seeing a big interest from the Internet community. For instance, we are contributing data collected by our Internet Observatory to an ICT statistics project sponsored by the European Commissions. This is a great motivation for us to continuously extend the data coverage.”

Internet Observatory is a modular project and will be continually extended. It collects completely anonymous data from ipoque partners and customers who agreed to contribute to the project and presents them as line, pie or area charts over selectable time intervals.
