SuperLumin Nemesis Software Enhances Online Learning and Network Performance at Aquinas College

Dayton, OH, September 28, 2011—SuperLumin Networks, a leading provider of high-speed media proxy and application acceleration solutions, today announced the installation of its SuperLumin Nemesis software at Aquinas College.

Aquinas College, one of the earliest Catholic schools on Australia’s Gold Coast, offers education in a caring, stimulating environment to over 670 full-time students. The College’s advanced 1:1 laptop program, which for the 2011 school year has 450 students involved, has put a new range of online resources at students’ fingertips that are accessible anywhere on campus, anytime. Prior to the 1:1 laptop program, access to online resources was via traditional shared-access computer rooms, with significantly fewer computers per student.

With laptops now in the hands of students throughout the entire school day, Aquinas College’s Internet connection needed to be upgraded to accommodate the high volume of traffic generated by the increased use of media-rich online educational applications. When the firewall and proxy caching solutions, provided by BorderManager, proved insufficient for the increasing needs, Aquinas turned to SuperLumin Networks for a replacement solution. By installing SuperLumin’s Nemesis software, Aquinas was able to efficiently handle the extensive bandwidth usage commanded by the school’s 1:1 laptop program and educational curriculum.

By caching several diverse types of media, such as Web video and social media sites, the software alleviated Aquinas from purchasing costly bandwidth upgrades.
