Saskatchewan is looking forward to the World Routes Conference

Saskatchewan is looking forward to the World Routes Conference

The Canadian Province Saskatchewan will participate for the first time in the World Routes Conference in Berlin. A delegation of business and tourism contacts will represent the strongest growing economy in Canada.

Thanks to its potash and agricultural production, predictions are that the Prairie province’s economy will expand by 4.3% in 2011 and by 4.1% next year. Saskatchewan has what the world needs and the world is now recognizing Saskatchewan as the place to invest.

The tourism sector contributes approximately $1.65 billion in total traveler expenditures annually to the provincial economy. No wonder that tourism and business move even closer now. Led by Saskatchewan’s two airports, Regina Airport Authority and Saskatoon Airport Authority, a delegation of business and tourism interests are attending the World Routes Conference in Berlin, Oct 2 – 4, 2011. Partners include Tourism Saskatchewan, Enterprise Saskatchewan, Tourism Saskatoon, Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Association, Saskatoon Greater Chamber of Commerce and the Regina Regional Opportunities Commission.

The World Routes conference offers a tremendous opportunity for Saskatchewan’s airport authorities, tourism and economic development associations to jointly market and promote Saskatchewan as a business and tourist destination of choice with a focus on expanding international airline routes into the province.

Closing Ceremony of the conference will be a high-end event at the Canadian Embassy in Berlin on October 4th. The 2010 Saskatchewan Gold Medal Plates Winner, Chef Dan Walker, will take guests on a culinary tour of Saskatchewan using signature ingredients that shape and define Saskatchewan. Mountie Officers trained and educated in the RCMP Academy Regina will be present for photo-ops and conversations. Registrations for the event will be taken at saskatchewan@denkzauber.de

Tourism Saskatchewan is a market-driven, industry-led partnership responsible for developing and promoting tourism in Saskatchewan. We represent over 2,000 members and more than 3,500 tourism industry stakeholders. Our mandate includes marketing, visitor services, education and training, and product and industry development. We strongly support sustainable tourism development. And we believe that the culturally diverse experiences offered by Saskatchewan operators and attractions make our province an authentic, affordable destination.

Enterprise Saskatchewan was created to attract new investment, new expansions, and new people. It represents a new approach to economic development, with leadership from a board driven by input straight from the province’s key sectors. The result is an agency expressly designed to overcome barriers to growth and to find or create new opportunities—essentially, to press the Saskatchewan advantage wherever possible.

Ultimately, this will help keep Saskatchewan among the most competitive and attractive business climates in Canada—and the world—in the months and years ahead.
