Lyda Law Firm has announced the addition of Michael J. Davis, Of Counsel to the growing firm. Davis brings with him over 30 years of legal experience and a wealth of knowledge related to business law, commercial litigation, and debt resolution.

Prior to joining Lyda Law Firm, Davis was a partner with DLG Law Group LLC and Archer Bay PA in Denver, and Springer Brown Covey Gaertner and Davis in Chicago, Illinois. Throughout his career, Davis has concentrated his practice in advising both business and consumer clients as to their options regarding state and federal commercial litigation, purchases and sales of businesses, debt resolution, workouts, and asset liquidation. He has participated in over 120 Chapter 11 cases representing both creditors and debtors, and he has represented debtors several Chapter 11 cases that paid creditors 100 cents on the dollar.

Davis is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Colorado and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Business Committee of the Colorado Bar Association, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He is a past chairperson of the Bankruptcy Committee of the DuPage County Bar Association, and was Editor-in-Chief of the DCBA Brief, the Journal of the DuPage County Bar Association. He is a frequent contributor of articles relating to business issues in sales of businesses, and is a frequent speaker on the topic of business bankruptcy for Lorman Educational Services, the DuPage County Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association. He is a recent graduate of the Student Loan Law Workshop where he became versed in assisting consumers with student loan debt on their repayment options.

Davis received his B.A. with honors in 1975 from the University of Notre Dame, and his J.D. in 1980 from Vanderbilt University School of Law. At Vanderbilt, he was a Director of the Moot Court Board and received the Outstanding Oralist Award in Advanced Appellate Advocacy.
